Matthew Roberts Stables believes that riding lessons help develop responsibility, fitness, poise, patience, persistence, and self-confidence.
We offer well-trained horses, an experienced staff, and a beautiful facility – all of which contribute to an atmosphere of learning and responsibility and ensures a positive and productive introduction to horses. From the beginner or timid to the most experienced show rider, our instructors are proud of our reputation for producing confident and excellent riders. Whether your goal is to show at the national or regional level or strictly for recreation, you will learn to ride with joy and an appreciation of interacting with a horse.

We offer up to four tournaments a year! Tournaments are a fun educational way to test your horsemanship. We have found them to be an excellent way to gain ring experience in a safe enviroment.
Academy Program
As you progress in your riding skills you may want to begin competing at local or regional SADDLEBRED AND MULTI-BREED HORSE SHOWS. The Academy division was developed just for that purpose. In this division, riders new to the discipline may compete in classes that are divided by age and skill categories.
The Academy program allows riders to enter the horse world affordably and simply enjoy riding while learning the valuable lessons of equitation and horsemanship. There is no need to own a horse to compete in the Academy division. The Academy Program is designed as an introduction for the new rider and their family without the commitment of owning a show horse.
Academy showing teaches students how to compete along with other valuable life lessons such as sportsmanship, focus, confidence, and handling criticism gracefully.

Once a rider has excelled in our Academy Program, Matthew will help guide them and their families through the horse-purchasing process. Each family will sit down with Matthew to discuss their goals. He will then set out in search of the perfect horse to complement the individual rider. Whether you are interested in competing on a local or national circuit, Matthew will help you find a horse appropriate for your goals and one who will ensure fun all along the way!
